Ive been using textnow for years. it is .99 cents a year for unlimited talk and text. no Data. but you can purchase data. The network is on the TMobile network, and its pretty darn good. The catch is that it is a VOIP number. That doesnt matter to most people, and if you dont know what a VOIP number even is, then you are probably one of the people.

oh and I forgot, textnow is actually free, if you stay near wifi. If you want to have your number to make and recieve texts and calls while you are away from a wifi signal, then its 99 cents a year.

UPDATE After I signed up I looked at my paypal and it was going to be a reoccurring charge. I couldn't seem to fix it on their site and they don't have a human agent. In the paypal app you can click off "cancel reoccurring charge" so I thought I'd share that because that is good to know with other subscription based stuff. I also removed their access to my account which I used to sign up. Apparently I had in the past as you can sign up with them for a free web based number. If need be, I may try again with a burner card.
