FREE Straight White Fiberglass Cane for the Blind from NFB
The National Federation of the Blind is offering a free straight fiberglass cane through the White Cane Program to individuals that are blind or visually impaired. The canes are available in the following lengths: 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 43, 53, 55, 57, 59, 61, and 63 inches. They suggest choosing a cane length which is eight inches shorter than the cane user. Requests may be made as often as every six months.
Free White Cane Program
The white cane has proved a useful tool to millions of blind people in navigating their environments with confidence and safety. It is a tool which allows blind people to travel where and when they want, and as such leads to self-sufficiency. The NFB believes that independence and freedom to travel are so important to the quality of life of blind people that every blind person should have a cane, regardless of ability to pay.
