On January 6, 2008, 17 year-old Cassie was involved in a fatal car accident. There were no drugs or alcohol involved and she was only going between 30 to 35 mph, this was confirmed in the police report. Due to her limited experience as a driver (1 year) and inclement weather that evening, she lost control of her car and hit a telephone pole and a stone wall. As a result of the impact, she was killed due to blunt trauma.

If Cassie had been wearing her seatbelt, she would have walked away from the accident with only a bump on her head.

It is the Geary family's goal to tell Cassie's story to as many people as they can in order to prevent a repeat of this tragedy.
